ROCKET TOWN shows up in force for BIG Modified 50 Lapper
Saturday Night the Rim was Invaded from the Rocket Town as several BAMA Modified Rocket drivers showed up and showed the fans at Highland Rim just how exciting the Ground Pounding Modifieds could be. Young Jim Walls and local favorite Ricky Sanford put on a driving exhibition swapping the lead back and forth, running nose to tail and side by side for many laps. Several drivers ran side by side through the field as there was racing everywhere you looked. There was quite a bit of paint swapping between the two contenders for the lead and several other positions. Late in the race Ricky Sanford got the lead with Jim Wall coming right back and passing him for the top spot to the lead position and Winning the BIG Modified Feature Race.
Unlimited Engine rules on the Modifieds means horsepower was no problem. Some of these cars had so much horsepower they could actually light the rear tires & turn sideways at the flag stand. The Modifieds are a growing class here at Highland Rim Speedway and a fan favorite. Next year the Modifieds will be back with even more race than this year. In fact because of car count and fan support we have changed the race dates for the Modifieds and also added another race in the schedule for them. The balance of the Modified Races will all be 50 lap races (pending car count). Please check the Highland Rim Schedule for the new race schedule for the Modifieds and the other divisions.. Next Race at Highland Rim is Aug 31st.
Remaining races for Modifieds will be
50 Lapper Sept 14th
50 Lapper Sept 28th
50 lapper Oct. 12th
