Highland Rim Speedway is a track rich in history. A group of neighbors joined forces in the early 1960s to build a racetrack. In the spring of 1962, the first cars competed on the high banked quarter mile dirt track. In 1969, the high banked dirt was paved and quickly became fastest high banked asphalt track in the region. Highland Rim is now a high banked "D" shaped asphalt track. The Thunder rolls at the Rim every Saturday night from March to November.
Classes such as Late Models, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Pro 4 Modifieds & Trucks, Rim Runners, Pure Stock, Tuners, Open Wheels, Legends, Dwarf and Baby Grands all compete regularly at the Rim!
Children are always welcomed at the Rim with bicycle races for ages 3 - 12 years old throughout the summer as well as a play area in the Grandstands complete with bounce attractions. Children must be 11 years old or older to enter the pit area and have a notarized minor release form on file in the office. Forms must be updated each season. The minor must also be accompanied by an adult when entering the pits. Download the Minor's Release Form here.
RAIN OUTS AT THE RIM -- Highland Rim Speedway is under the influence of Mother Nature when it comes to racing. People may see dark clouds and rainy conditions, but there still may be racing at the Rim. However, it is up to the discretion of HRS Management to declare the races cancelled. If you are curious about the status of racing on an event day, you may check Facebook, call the Rim office at (615) 643-8725 - or sign up for the Rained Out Texting Service.
A race will be cancelled due to rain when it is clear that the track cannot be dried in time to continue racing. We are dedicated to the safety of the participants, and when weather interferes, the races will be cancelled. Although the weather may clear up close to opening times, keep in mind that several hours of practice and qualifying have already been forfeited due to weather. HRS will do everything within its power to attempt to dry the tracks to continue an event. However in the situations where the race must be cancelled please retain your ticket stub. It can be redeemed at the ticket booth for the next regular race event at the track. An race night event will be considered completed at the halfway point of an event. Any rainout prior to halfway will result in all spectators and gate admissions to be rain checked. A rain check from a rained out event is only good for the next week’s race. It is not accepted after that. Any event that is rained out after the halfway point will only yield a rain check for the drivers in the divisions that have not run. Pit crewmembers and spectators will not be rain checked at that point.
